We want an American Dream.

There is a path to greatness. But what happens if that path is blocked? Or changes direction? Or becomes an ocean that you simply can’t run on or through? What allows those people, with fewer resources, in a struggling market, and without much help to succeed, to actually obtain success? What allows those, who face adversity, to achieve? If one is limited in so many ways, how does their potential seem to be limitless?
We all understand WHAT we should do. And many even understand HOW to do it. However, where most get confused is the WHY we do it.

We get confused because we mix up the result and the purpose.

If you work day in and day out, you make money. The money is a result. But if you just make money and that is your purpose, your life tends to be empty and redundant. Your happiness and joy is based on a monetary result. Not to say monetary isn’t important but, it’s a ceiling we create over ourselves. More often than not, your success is hindered based on the extreme focus that is devoted to the whats and hows rather than the why.

We tend to focus on the results as the core; when in fact, the results are supposed to merely be the attributes to the purpose.

And think about the ramifications of trying to succeed with those focused on the result, those who’s minds don’t go beyond the whats and the hows. If you work with someone who is merely focused on monetary gains, they are easily swayed. There is no loyalty. There is no purpose. Their purpose becomes that of the highest bidder.

However, imagine trying to obtain success with someone who cares about the why. Someone who cares about the purpose. Someone who is willing to face the trials and tribulation of the failures that often comes before the success. Imagine someone who is willing to obtain your vision with their blood and sweat. Imagine if you were one of those people. Imagine if you were a part of a group of those people. Imagine the possibilities of a band of people willing to shed blood and sweat for the why. People who are not discouraged by the unwanted and unforeseen results because they understand that they are working towards a purpose.

The path to greatness would continue no matter what. The blocked path would be clear. The change of direction would be embraced. An ocean would be a new frontier. Adversity becomes a welcomed challenge. A limitation is no more than an attitude shift.

The American Dream is a purpose. It is a why. It can be applied to any nations and any peoples. It is the purpose to make life our own, to pursue happiness, and to find joy in that pursuit. It is an idea that is not betrayed by adversity. It is an idea that thrives through challenge.

The American Dream isn’t dead. The American Dream is a matter of constructive action and personal improvement. It is a purpose. It is a RIVALRY.
